Unique Concept – ‘Planets’
The Spacetoon in-house studio produces cartoon programs that address childcare issues, awareness of the environment, children's educational needs etc... For which, the Group has developed a unique theme-based format of programming. Based on the interest areas of children aged between 2-15 years, the Group has developed ten popular categories – called “planets”.
The content for each planet is customized to attract a distinct audience within the overall target segment of children between 2-15 years. Every hour of the day is dedicated to a planet according to viewing patterns and the age of the audience.
The ten planets, listed adjacently, cover the full spectrum of children’s interests including, Movies, Education, History, Science, Action, Adventure, Sport and Comedy, BonBon, satisfying an audience ranging from Pre-School to Twines and Teens.
This classification is an internationally registered licensed property of Spacetoon International.
This concept of theme-based television programming has been successfully piloted by Spacetoon Kids TV. Although the channel primarily aired cartoon features purchased from other animation companies, “Planets” enabled Spacetoon Kids TV to differentiate itself from other channels in this category.
The cognitive abilities of the target segment vary significantly according to age. Recognizing this and translating it into the concept of the “Planets” enabled Spacetoon Kids TV to acquire a dedicated viewer base in a very short time. Viewers developed an affinity to a particular theme or planet, and then demonstrated a high degree of loyalty to the channel.
SpaceToon concept had not only appealed to its viewers but also to advertisers. Advertisers are able to choose advertisement slots depending on when the programs are aired for a specific target audience in the 0-14 year’s age group thus maximizing the impact of its product and brand.
Spacetoon is sensitive to the region’s cultural values and tailors its programs accordingly. The Arab League, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the World Health Organization (WHO) have signed agreements with Spacetoon Middle East to broadcast enlightening messages to target audiences including important Public Service Announcements regarding the environment and health issues.
